The man who was shot outside a Lenexa McDonald’s has been identified


Demaria Valentino Avance faces charges including first-degree murder in a fatal shooting in Lenexa that occurred on January 13, 2024.

OLATHE, Kan. – The Lenexa Police Department has identified A A man was killed in a shooting over the weekend On Monday, the Johnson County District Attorney filed charges against the suspected gunman.

Lenexa Police say 21-year-old Marquis D. Gleghorn was shot and killed Saturday night around 7 outside a McDonald’s restaurant near the intersection of W. 87th Parkway and Pflum Road.


Lenexa police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death in a truck outside a McDonald’s restaurant.

Officers found Gleghorn shot inside a car and attempted to save his life, but he died at the scene. Minutes after police arrived, someone called 911 and said they were involved in a shooting. Police arrested 24-year-old Demariea Avance a few miles away at an apartment at W. 88th Street and Lakeview Avenue.

The DA’s office filed three felony charges against Avance including first-degree murder, criminal discharge of a firearm and attempted distribution of marijuana.
