Samsung has announced new soundbars at CES 2024, just in time to accompany its latest Neo QLED and OLED TV ranges. The company unveiled two new speaker models, including the ultra-slim HW-S800D and the flagship HW-Q990D.

The HW-S800D is a 1.6-inch deep soundbar that Samsung designed for users to easily fit into any space (if it’s wide enough).

This speaker features 10 drivers, including overhead speakers and a center channel for clear sound. This speaker works in conjunction with a subwoofer that delivers just that “Distortion-free bass in a compact form” Samsung claims.

New flagship speakers announced

Besides the aforementioned ultra-slim soundbar, Samsung also announced the flagship model HW-Q990D, which features an 11.1.4-channel configuration.

Some of the HW-Q990D’s new features include a Party Mode voice coil and a Private Listening mode that disables the front speakers.

Now, we can see the fruits of Harman’s acquisition of Ron last year. The HW-Q990D supports the Roon HD music streaming service, and HW-Q990D users will be able to stream music to individual speakers or groups of devices (via Engadget).

The HW-Q990D features Dolby Atmos audio and uses artificial intelligence to optimize sound for different types of content. Samsung also says that these speakers support HDMI 2.1 pass-through at up to 4K and 120Hz.

Samsung hasn’t announced any details on pricing and release date, but for what it’s worth, the current HW-S800B and HW-Q990C models typically cost $899 and $1,899, respectively, when they’re not available at discounts like they are now.

With that in mind, we can assume that the new HW-S800D and HW-Q990D sequences unveiled today at CES 2024 in Las Vegas may cost roughly the same once they go on sale.
