After more than a year of post-release content, The Pokémon Company has finally wrapped up Pokémon Scarlet & Violet with an epilogue chapter. As part of this (Spoiler alert), it also officially introduced a brand new legendary Poison/Ghost-Type, Pecharunt.
Here’s a detailed description of Pecharunt, from the Pokémon website:
Bisharont: Somewhere in the land of Kitakami, the legendary Pokémon Bisharont was biding its time to reawaken.
She uses her cunning to survive by feeding Binding Mochi to others: This Pokémon secretes poison from its shell to create Binding Mochi, which it offers to people and Pokémon. Pecharunt then uses the chains to control those who eat the Binding Mochi, which is not only delicious, but also seems to bring out the deepest desires and powers in those who eat it. Pecharunt can also be very cunning. For example, he will feign weakness by crying and acting like a baby to gain sympathy from others.
Go to Kitakami to get the masks: There is a theory that long ago, a Pecharunt traveled to the land of Kitakami with the Three Saviors, each of whom he subdued using the Binding Mochi – all to obtain certain masks coveted by an elderly couple living with the Pecharunt. Pecharunt found himself involved in a battle with Ogerpon over the masks – ultimately leading to Pecharunt’s defeat. It retreated into its peel and, over time, became known to locals as the peach that never rots. What appears to be just decoration in a shop is actually Pecharunt, anxiously awaiting his return time.
New ability: Toxic Puppeteer: Pecharunt’s Toxic Puppeteer is a new ability first introduced in Hidden treasure of area zero. This ability causes a Pokémon that has been poisoned or severely poisoned by Pecharunt’s moves to become disoriented.
New step: Malicious chain: This attack releases a chain made of poison that can leave its target severely poisoned.
