Peru declares a state of emergency on the northern border with Ecuador


Unrest erupts in Ecuador after a notorious gang leader known as Vito escapes from prison.

Prison riots ensued, then developed into more widespread violence across the country, committed by gang-like criminal gangs.

Gunmen attacked a television studio and threatened employees, making headlines on Tuesday.

Now Peru has closed its borders with Ecuador.

The official currency of Ecuador is the US dollar, and dollarization was implemented in 2000. High interest rates in the United States have affected the country’s economy, but not in a very positive way! Although this was not the cause of the unrest, it did not help.
