Netflix’s Ripley, Starring Andrew Scott, Gets Teaser and Premiere Date – The Hollywood Reporter

Showtime’s loss is Netflix’s gain.

The streaming giant has revealed a first-look teaser for its Andrew Scott-led film Ripley series.

Originally developed by Showtime and then picked up by Netflix a year ago, the series is based on the best-selling Tom Ripley novels by Patricia Highsmith. Scott (aka “The Hot Priest” from Flea bag) plays a con man living in early 1960s New York who is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy in an attempt to convince his homeless son to return home. Taking the job is Tom’s first step toward a complicated life filled with deceit, fraud, and murder.

The series, which stars Dakota Fanning, Johnny Flynn, and John Malkovich, will premiere on Netflix on April 4.

Showtime co-produced the series along with Endemol Shine North America, Entertainment 360 and Filmrights. Steven Zaillian (a night) serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Garrett Bash, Clayton Townsend, Jaymon Cassady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy, and Philip Keel. Zaillian wrote and directed all eight episodes of the series.
