MW3 and Warzone January 11 Update Patch Notes: MTZ Interceptor nerfs, spawn fixes, and more

Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players received an update on January 11, before the Season 1 Reloaded update rolls out with more changes. Here’s a look at the patch notes that include the long-awaited MTZ Interceptor nerf.

The developers of MW3 and Warzone released an update to the game on January 11 that aims to address some long-awaited changes to weapon balance. Although the main update for Reloaded Season 1 is scheduled to arrive on January 17, it seems that some of the changes can’t wait until then.

The powerful MTZ Interceptor weapon has been wreaking havoc in Warzone matches throughout Season 1 and players have been clamoring for a nerf to the weapon. Their calls were answered when the developers finally nerfed the popular MTZ Interceptor.

Development of the Warzone nerf MTZ Interceptor

Activision

The MTZ Interceptor has been the most dominant weapon in Warzone throughout Season 1.

The powerful MTZ Interceptor that has dominated Warzone for weeks finally received a nerf on January 11th.

After countless complaints from players throughout Season 1, the developers have confirmed that they will take a look at balancing the Marksman rifle before the nerf finally arrives with the January 11 update.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented CDL Team Packs from opening properly when purchased from the Store.
  • Fixed an issue that caused event progress to not be tracked correctly in the front menu.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented emblems from being properly awarded for prestige level progression.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some Soap Operator skins to not have proper images and text in the menu.

Please note that additional weapon modifications will be rolled out in the Season 1 Reloaded update scheduled for release on January 17, 2024.

“Marksman rifle”

  • MTZ interceptor (MWIII)
    • Maximum damage reduced to 85, down from 95
    • Minimum damage reduced to 78, down from 84

“Ammunition”

  • Snake shot
    • This facility will be re-enabled through a playlist update scheduled for 10 AM PT.
    • Damage per pellet at max range has been reduced to 12, down from 34

Bug fixes

  • Fixed further collision issues with various items across Urzikstan allowing players to exploit, peek, and shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue allowing players to duplicate load drop markers.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Dead Silence icon to inadvertently appear in the kill cam.
  • Fixed an issue allowing players to exploit the cash deposit balloon in Plunder.
  • Fixed an issue allowing players to duplicate items in the backpack menu.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to remain stuck in labor camps.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the After Action Report to end abruptly.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some attachments to not appear correctly when equipped with certain weapons.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Dual Cams Unlock Challenge from tracking properly.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to be returned to the front menu while navigating attachments in the Gunsmith.

Multiplayer

  • Bug fixes
    • Many attachment descriptions have been modified to better reflect their true effects.
    • Addressed issues that caused the player to be unexpectedly returned to the multiplayer menu in multiple scenarios.

      • Use attachment filters
    • Fixed an issue that caused the incorrect weapon model to appear while selecting a blueprint in the Gunsmith.

Play

  • Weapon check animations will no longer play after respawning in minimap playlists.
    • Note: This change was published on January 4, 2024.

Progress

  • Corrected unlock requirements for the Throwing Star (Equipment) have been shown.
  • Corrected unlock requirements for multiple attachments have been shown.
    • Ruin -10 shares
    • Muzzle compensator Rival-9
  • Fixed a spelling error in the Kingslayer Kills challenge.
  • Daily Reward Challenge completions will no longer appear as “Challenge Name Missing” in the notification tray.

  • Afghan
    • Additional spawn points have been added to increase the quality of spawn selection in Team Deathmatch and dominance.
  • Invade
    • Increased operator lighting to address poor visibility in certain areas.
    • Deployments have been adjusted to prevent unnecessary spawn fluctuations while the Bus Station Capture Point (P3) is active in Hardpoint.
  • Meat
    • Deployments have been adjusted to prevent players in the Garage from killing enemies when respawning.
  • Rust
    • Increased consistency in quality spawn selection.
  • Spuryard
    • Players can no longer get stuck when respawning in storage.
  • Lounge
    • Adjusted spawn points near safety to prevent unfavorable spawn conditions in Team Deathmatch and Domination.

Techniques

  • Weapon game
    • The placeholder image in the Statistics tab of the Scoreboard has been removed.
  • Operation Spearhead (War)
    • Dropping gear (Field Upgrade) will no longer destroy the tank and cause a stalemate.

    • Once unlocked, the JAK Ettin double barrel assembly accessory can now be equipped.
  • WSP-9
    • Incompatible hybrid optical attachments can no longer be equipped.

    • Explosive damage reduced to 1 to prevent kills in powerful modes.

    • Repositioning the tower will not make it more vulnerable to incoming damage than intended.

  • Enhanced white color coverage of the Atlanta FaZe 2024 Camo.

“Ether Blade”

  • Fixed an issue where players would lose their Aether Blade if it was thrown and hit by a Harvester Orb.
  • The redundancy exploit associated with ammunition stores has been closed.

    • Fixed an issue that prevented the “Destroy 5 vehicles with a recommended weapon” challenge from being tracked.

  • Fixed an issue where the maximum reserve ammo limit for some weapons was inconsistent between Urzikstan and Dark Aether Rift.
