‘Madame Web’ director talks about why he won’t give Spider-Women origin stories in new movie

However, the film introduces Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor), and Aina Corazon (Isabella Merced), who eventually become different iterations of Spider-Women.

Despite showing glimpses of their future as superheroes in the Spider-Man universe, audiences won’t get to see how they got their superpowers, which was intentional.

So I think it’s Madame Web, and here’s kind of an evolution of something else underneath it.

The director doubled down, saying it was “probably very greedy” of her to take on the task of giving all these characters their origin stories. Clarkson said fans might be telling her to “get out” after she was also the director of the Marvel series Jessica Jones.

“No, give someone else a chance,” Clarkson added of the possibility of fans protesting.
