King Charles III diagnosed with cancer; Postponing public engagements

King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer, according to Buckingham Palace.

The palace said in a statement on Monday afternoon that the cancer was discovered after the king underwent surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia last month.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but the king will now begin “regular treatments” during which he will postpone public engagements.

Buckingham Palace said the king “remains entirely positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public service as soon as possible.”

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope that it will aid the public’s understanding of all those affected by cancer around the world,” she added.
