Harry, Meghan and King Charles react to the discovery that Princess Kate has cancer

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, issued a statement after Princess Kate Middleton announced she had been diagnosed with cancer today.

The couple, who have largely separated from the royal family, wished the Princess of Wales “health and recovery” for her and her family.

“We wish health and recovery to Kate and the family, and hope they can do so in privacy and peace,” Harry and Meghan said in a statement provided to news agencies.

Princess Kate announced in a video message on Friday that the cancer was discovered after her abdominal surgery last January. She is undergoing preventive chemotherapy on the advice of her medical team.

King Charles III also issued a statement in response to his daughter-in-law’s cancer diagnosis.

The king said he was “very proud of Catherine for having the courage to speak out as she did,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said in a statement.

Princess Kate, 42, was hospitalized for about two weeks in January after undergoing abdominal surgery.

Its revelation comes after Buckingham Palace announced last month that the British king was suffering from a type of cancer.

The two “have remained in close contact with their beloved daughter-in-law over the past weeks,” the palace statement said. King Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort, “will continue to offer their love and support to the entire family during this difficult time.”
