Goldman Sachs announces full-year and fourth-quarter earnings results for 2023


NEW YORK, January 16, 2024 – Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. announced… (NYSE: GS) today reported net revenues of $46.25 billion and net profits of $8.52 billion for the year ending December 31, 2023. Net revenues were $11.32 billion and net profits of $2.01 billion for the fourth quarter of 2023. 2023.

Diluted earnings per common share (EPS) were $22.87 for 2023 and were $5.48 for the fourth quarter of 2023. Return on average common stockholders’ equity (ROE) was 7.5% for 2023 and annualized ROE was 7.1% for the fourth quarter of Year 2023.

Goldman Sachs also provided an update on the progress of the company’s streamlined strategy, setting out key goals for 2024 and beyond. These include:

  • Dedicate One Goldman Sachs to customer service excellence;
  • Manage a distinguished, robust, world-class business; And
  • Investment to operate on a large scale.

Select items related to the execution of Goldman Sachs’ narrow strategic focus, as well as FDIC special valuation charges, impacted the company’s full-year and fourth-quarter results. For 2023, these items reduced net earnings by $2.8 billion, earnings per share by $8.04, and return on equity by 2.6 percentage points. For Q4 2023, these items reduced net earnings by $283 million, earnings per share by $0.83, and annualized ROE by 1.0 percentage points.
