Custom GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER cards are showing up at retailers for up to $650

NVIDIA RTX 40 SUPER Early Bird Pricing: Up to an additional $50 for a custom 4070(Ti) SUPER, $100 for a 4080 SUPER

Newegg and BestBuy confirm pricing for the model for several versions.

The upcoming NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER is set to be the first gaming GPU to be launched this year. The predecessor, the original 4070, gained popularity among board partners. We’ve counted over 140 custom models already on the tag that are based on this SKU. The RTX 4070 SUPER could follow suit, offering more versatility, especially thanks to the introduction of several white versions in recent months.

Fortunately, cooler compatibility shouldn’t be a major concern for current builds, as the RTX 4070 SUPER only requires a small 20W power increase over its predecessor. Board partners typically design their coolers with some room for potential upgrades, ensuring a smooth transition for users. What this means is that AIBs can produce multiple cards with minimal effort.

With pre-orders expected to begin next week, likely in line with the release of the first reviews, some popular US retailers have begun listing the new cards. Not all of the offerings have revealed pricing yet, but through some clever tricks, we’ve been able to compile a list of models currently on offer on Newegg and BestBuy, with the latter being NVIDIA’s launch partner for the Founder’s Edition.

  • NVIDIA Enterprise Edition: $599.99

GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB MSRP: $999

  • MSI Ventus 3X Oak: $1099.99

Currently, there are four 4070 SUPER models listed at MSRP, while five models are priced higher, ranging from $10 to $50 over the suggested amount. It’s worth noting that only a few retailers have actually chosen to lower the price of the current non-SUPER version of the RTX 4070. The official price adjustment to $549 is expected to take effect next week.

In addition to the RTX 4070 SUPER, there are also listings for the RTX 4070 Ti and even the RTX 4080 SUPER. Specifically, the MSI VENTUS 3X cards come at a premium of $50 and $100 over the NVIDIA card MSRP.

NVIDIA is lifting the sales ban on the RTX 4070 on January 17, and this applies to all models. But if you’re considering upgrading this model, but may be considering any of the factory overclocked models that aren’t priced at NVIDIA’s MSRP, you should be aware that there are two types of revision blocking. One on January 16 for MSRP cards and another for remaining models the next day, in line with the SKU release.

As a reminder, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will launch a week later, on January 24, while the RTX 4080 SUPER is scheduled to launch on January 31.
