Car insurance costs rise by 20% in the United States, the largest increase since 1976


There’s no relief in sight for U.S. car owners who have faced sky-high vehicle maintenance costs in the past couple of years.

Motor insurance rates rose 20.3% in December from a year earlier, the biggest jump since 1976, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was the 16th consecutive month in which year-over-year gains exceeded 10%.
