Apple is updating the technical specifications of the Vision Pro to correct the video quality that mirrors that of AirPlay

Apple revealed the technical specifications for the Vision Pro today as pre-orders go live in the US. It appears that a spec was posted with an error, as the technical specs page has changed since this morning.

Today we highlighted that the Vision Pro is capable of mirroring video to AirPlay-enabled devices at 1080p. This decision is based on Apple’s Display Specifications section regarding screen mirroring.

For whatever reason, Apple has since updated the page to clarify that AirPlay video display is not actually Full HD. Alternatively, the Vision Pro is rated to mirror 720p video on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and AirPlay-connected smart TVs.

Why the change? Apple may have previously planned to support 1080p screen mirroring, but did not find the performance to live up to its expectations.

In any case, the difference should not affect any purchasing decisions. This feature is intended to enable others to see what you see in Vision Pro. It’s hardly an essential part of the Vision Pro experience.
