John Ortiz joins Will Trent in a recurring role for season two


John Ortiz (American fantasy) was cast on ABC Will Trent In a recurring role in the second season.

Will’s (Ramon Rodriguez) uncle will be played by Antonio Miranda. He is described as warm and inviting, with connections to Atlanta and Puerto Rico. Antonio is eager to make up for lost time with the nephew he never knew existed.

Antonio was first mentioned in a recent episode by James Ulster (Greg German), Will’s biggest connection to his mother, who was murdered. Ortiz will make his first appearance in episode 206, which will air on Tuesday, April 9 at 8 p.m

Based on Karen Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling book Will Trent The series follows the titular special agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who was abandoned at birth and endured harsh conditions as an adult in Atlanta’s burdensome foster care system. Now, Will uses his unique perspective to seek justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

In addition to Rodriguez, the police procedural stars Sonia Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Erika Christensen as Angie Pulaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

Executive producers are Liz Heldens, Danielle Thomsen, Karen Slaughter and Uli Obst. Ramon Rodriguez is co-executive producer. The series is produced by Al-Eshreen TV.

Most recently, Ortiz starred in Cord Jefferson’s American fantasy vs. Jeffrey Wright, Which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice, and Independent Spirit Film Awards. Additionally, Ortiz was nominated for a SAG Award as part of the film’s ensemble. Next, he will be seen in Chris Pine’s film Pullman; Bill Lawrence’s upcoming Apple TV+ series Bad monkey And Netflix Madness vs. Coleman Domingo.

Ortiz is also known for his work on stage – as an actor and director, and is the co-founder of LAByrinth Theater Company. He is represented by Gersh, a major Los Angeles entertainment executive and partner of Rose Dabello, et al.
