John Oliver criticized Kate Middleton for her Photoshop fail and got a cameo from him Jersey Shore Snooki on Last week tonight.
At the top of the show, Oliver criticized the drama in England over Kensington Palace issuing a statement in which the Princess of Wales admitted to editing a photo of herself and her three children.
“Someone’s Adobe free trial expired in a very public way,” Oliver quipped.
After a photo of Middleton and her three children was released to the public to celebrate Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom, the photo was pulled from news outlets after it was revealed that it had been doctored.
“Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing,” Middleton’s apology said. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating Mother’s Day is very happy. J.”
Oliver’s main story that night was about student loans and the number of Americans struggling to pay them back due to exorbitant interest rates that inflate monthly payments. The HBO host profiled a woman who pays more than $700 a month for a student loan, with most of the payment paying in interest and not the principal.
“This is ridiculous,” Oliver said. “Clearly $650 could be better spent.”
Oliver said the money for interest alone on the loan could go toward purchasing two Cameo videos from Rudy Giuliani, who charges $325 per order.
“I’ll prove it to you by buying one, but I don’t want to give this guy any money,” he said.
However, Oliver found another celebrity and booked Snooki to do a Cameo video for $300 per order.
“Hey Brittany, what’s up mom. It’s your girl Snooki and I can’t believe this video costs half your student loan interest. This is ridiculous,” Snooki said in the video.
Later in the show, Snooki made another appearance, as Oliver booked her again for a video congratulating another student loan borrower who had finished paying off her loan.
“Hi Sarah, I’m so glad your student debt is gone. Congratulations,” Snooki said.
Oliver thanked Snooki and imitated her signing off with a kiss on camera.
