A “Curb Your Enthusiasm” billboard in honor of Larry David was vandalized

Once again, life imitated art. A billboard was vandalized in Los Angeles in honor of Curb your enthusiasm.

The billboard, located at Centinela Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, depicts an advertisement for Susie Essman’s Kaftans. In the show, the character Susie started her own business and used a billboard to advertise it. But the poster on the painting was vandalized, with people drawing bars around her face. Naturally, Larry David was happy.

HBO commissioned a replica of the TV billboard, and when it appeared a week ago, it was also distorted in a manner similar to the TV show.

TMZ reports that the vandals are an arts activist group called INDECLINE.

They acted at the request of Curb Your Enthusiasm star Jeff Garlin, who wrote on Instagram, “Someone should put an ad out there. Maybe two.”

After the vandalism, Garlin posted: “Whoever did this, I offer you my deepest gratitude. A big bowl of love.”

The group told TMZ they felt they were honoring Larry David by pulling the stunt.

“A few nights ago, we watched in awe as one of our favorite pastimes, the ‘Bulletin Board Edit’, was incorporated into the latest episode. We received a flood of texts and DMs about the Billboard being in Los Angeles, and even saw that Jeff Garland (sic) was On Instagram he calls for it to change.

“So, as a thank you to Larry David, for his contribution to the field of life imitating art, we offer you our contribution to the practice of life imitating art.”
