“Road House” lands in the roundhouse on opening night of SXSW, proving it has big screen power

After continuous laughter, whoops, screams, whistles and applause at tonight’s world premiere of the film Road house At SXSW, Amazon MGM Studios may want to think again before releasing the Jake Gyllenhaal-Conor McGregor boxer movie on Prime Video. It doesn’t take an elbow to the head to wake you up to the truth of this Road house Clearly, it needs to set a destination for movie theaters.

The jam-packed Paramount Theater here in Austin, Texas devoured this Doug Liman-directed film like a dozen beef ribs from Terry Black’s Barbeque. This unexpected, last-minute excursion by Liman was by no means a waste of the director’s time.

While the streamer has turned the corner and stuck to the theater, and is largely wise in making the right decision about what to show on the service or the big screen, this non-stop action take on Paradise, shot in Imax and packed with more… Dolby 7.1 sound is definitely worth leaving the couch for. Spoiler alert, there’s one action scene in the movie that’s perfectly suited for big-screen love, in which Gyllenhaal’s bar bouncer crashes into a truck while strolling across a bridge.

At a time when many are chanting that Hollywood doesn’t make enough movies for the Midlands, tonight was solid proof that there is an audience for… Road house. Typically, SXSW starts recently with a music genre (We are a quiet place(or fantasy movie)Dungeons and Dragons; Everything everywhere at once) For movie heads not here in the Texas capital.

But this UFC-themed movie clearly plays to tough guys of all ages. Amazon MGM distribution moves here with road house, Which is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on March 21, is mind-boggling after tonight’s buzzy premiere given that the studio did box office wonders in the upper states over Christmas with George Clooney’s new period drama The Face, Boys in the boat Which minted $52.5 million. That picture made more money than many other titles that misrepresented adults around the holiday including stars Ferrari ($18.6 million) and Zac Efron-Jeremy Allen White Iron claw ($35 million). Given the fun, frolic and fun in the sun on this Key West, Florida motion picture set, it should make a spot on your summer calendar Road house. It’s reminiscent of the country movies that Hollywood was making in the late 1970s, like the Clint Eastwood movie In every way but loose ($85.1 million) and Smokey and the Bandit ($126.7 million) but with a lot more punch and gore.

As we told you, Gyllenhaal hosted tonight’s show, expressing his gratitude to not just Lyman Burr for Amazon suits including Jane Salk, Stephen Bruno, and more.

How did he do it? Road house With all of Lyman’s complaints moving from photo to live, SXSW ended up opening? Quite simply, the festival requested and wanted to screen the film. Great call.

Next, Dax Shepard moderated the Q&A post.

“How much would a drink cost at the Road House if you could pay your bouncer $20,000 a month?” Shepard asked as McGregor walked around happily.

“Hey, the studio wants to ask these questions,” Shepard interrupted McGregor hysterically.

Shepard exclaimed to Gyllenhaal: “What a physique you have, buddy, from your abs to your quads to your abs – how does one get in good shape?”

“I had a great team,” Gyllenhaal replied.

“CGI team,” Shepard quipped.

“When you go up against someone like Conor McGregor, you have to have something,” Gyllenhaal replied.

“It’s like buying that house you wanted — oh my God, did I just do that?!,” Gyllenhaal said after McGregor joined the cast. “It’s an unbelievable feeling, and then you’re like, ‘What the hell did I just do?’

Among those who appeared on stage after the first show were Daniella Milchore, Jessica Williams, Billy Magnussen, Lucas Gage, J.D. Pardo and Post Malone.
