While Stranger Things Season 5 star Linda Hamilton may be gearing up for an adventure in Hawkins, Indiana — hoping to blast some clips of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” on her Walkman — she won’t be watching the final season though. In an interview with Us Weekly!, the actress shared that although she “enjoys” every season of the series, her participation in its final season “ruined” her viewing experience.

“When you buy something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never watch (a project) when I’m in something,” Hamilton explained. “It would completely take me out of reality to see myself there. So, I won’t watch (Season 5).”

The actor is among the few new cast members to join the hit sci-fi series in its final stretch. However, her role is still being kept secret from fans — with showrunners Ross and Matt Duffer even giving Hamilton only “the look of the character, not the story.”

“They have to be very careful with their story,” Hamilton added. “So I still don’t know how it’s going to end. It takes a lot of discipline not to know where it’s going to go, but it’s to protect it from all the people who want to know.”

Hamilton noted that she was having a good time on the show, which began production on January 8. Stranger Things’ official Instagram kicked off the filming process by posting a photo of the entire cast on the first day of production. They have since continued to post a variety of images to build hype and hype for the highly anticipated finale.

Hamilton jokingly noted that she had friends constantly texting her to find out her whereabouts so they could then try to piece together and unravel pieces of the show’s coveted story and lore.

Recently, cast member Gaten Matarazzo — who plays fan-favorite Dustin Henderson — appeared at MegaCon Orlando (via CBR) and was asked if there were any changes he might make to the first four seasons of the show, to which the actor didn’t hesitate. To say that more characters should have been killed off.

“It may seem absurd, but we should be killing more people,” Matarazzo said. “This show could have been so much better if the stakes were so much higher that, at any moment, any of these kids could top it. I feel like we’re all pretty safe.”

Although production on the season has already begun in full swing, there is no news on when the finale will air on Netflix. With many film and television productions halted due to strikes in Hollywood, there is little chance that Season 5 will debut before 2025.
