‘The Bachelor’ recap: The drama continues with Mariah as Joey narrows his group to 10 women

Spoiler alert! This post contains details from Tuesday’s episode of BSC.

Two episodes of BSC In one week? It must be a Valentine’s Day miracle.

Not only that, but Tuesday’s episode concludes with two rose ceremonies. And if you thought the drama with Mariah would end after Sydney left, think again.

Tuesday’s episode picks up where it left off on Monday, with Maria having a breakdown because Leah is leading a crusade against her. While the rest of the women seem to be avoiding this situation like the plague, Medina chooses to calm her down and tell her that she won’t be hard on her just because Leah says she has to. Leah tells Joey how much she hates Maria, though it’s unclear what the point is here since Maria already has a rose.

At the rose ceremony, Joey gave roses to Kelsey A, Katelyn, Daisy, Rachel, Jane, Autumn, Jess, Medina, and Leah. Since Mariah, Lexi, and Kelsey T already have roses, that means Alison and Edwina will be sent packing.

Joey and his remaining women are heading to Andalusia, Spain on the next leg of their journey. When they arrive, Joey meets the women for a glass of sangria before stealing Kelsey A away on a one-on-one date. After she leaves, Maria asks the group if they would take Leia’s Solo Card if they had the chance, and if they would use it at that moment. they You can cruise on a Vespa with Joey. Kelsey T. admits she probably would have taken the card, but she’s not sure if she’ll use it.

Dates are fairly quiet this week. Kelsey and Joey spend the day wandering around Spain, tasting some local food and wine, playing soccer with some of the kids, and delving deeper into their relationship. Kelsey says she’s not quite sure she’s in love with Joey yet, but she’s on her way there. Meanwhile, Joey seems very smitten.

When it’s dinner time, Kelsey tells Joy about her mother, who died of breast cancer about a decade ago. She says that this process was difficult for her, because she had to imagine getting engaged and having a wedding without her mother there. Joey is very receptive and assures her that he is there to support her as much as she needs him. Kelsey gets a rose (and she admits she probably is.) He is Falling in love with Joey).

Group date goes to Lexi, Daisy, Jenn, Outum, Maria, Katelyn, Madina, Lea, Jess and Kelsey T. This means Rachel gets second place individually.

When I say that Leah spends the entire group date complaining about Mariah’s presence, I mean it. The group meets Joey at a villa where they will tap into their inner artists. They were each tasked with finding a quote to sum up their feelings about Joey. Next, they have to draw a picture of the quote in question, and Joey has to try to guess what the quote is. The closer, the better. The winner gets extra time with Joey.

They’re all amateur painters, but Jess wins. Her reward is for her and Joey to strip down to their swimsuits and put on some paint together to create “their first piece of art as a couple.”

At the cocktail party that night, Mariah gets another early rose after revealing her past to Joey. She told Joy that she and her mother were in a car accident when she was a child, and the accident was nearly fatal. Her mother was severely injured, preventing her from showing up during Maria’s childhood in a more significant way, which fractured their relationship. Maria says this is also why she hesitates to take anything seriously, because life can turn upside down very quickly.

Most women are pretty upset to see Mariah getting another early rose.

During Rachel’s one-on-one date, she and Joey go flamingo dancing during the day. Later that night at dinner, Joey said he hoped to get to know Rachel better, since she was slower to open up than some of the other women. Rachel admits that she has a hard time opening up, mostly because she’s been burned in the past. She specifically wants to make sure that Joy understands the demands of her job as a nurse, as she has had problems in her previous relationships with partners who do not understand her commitment to her job. She also says that she is starting to feel more comfortable with Joey and is working to convince herself that she is worthy of his attention. He gives her the rose.

All hell breaks loose at the pre-rose cocktail party again. The group is dwindling, stronger bonds are forming, which means jealousy and tension are increasing. Very early in the night, Maria steals Joy away to talk alone, alienating Jess.

Jess says it’s disrespectful for Mariah to talk to Joey since she already has a rose, but Kelsey A. admits she would do the same, and doesn’t think Mariah did anything wrong. Lexi points out that she thinks Mariah is an easy target, because some people are already mad at her, and her relationship with Joey is clearly very strong.

When Maria returns from her conversation, Jess confronts her. Maria not Get it. The situation escalates until Jess storms off, calling Maria a “bitch.” Some of the other women tell Maria she could have handled it better, but Maria insists that Jess has no reason to confront her. The cocktail party ends, and Jess blames Maria for not spending any time with Joey.

But, as it turns out, there was literally nothing to worry about as Jess gets her rose along with Jen, Kelsey T, Daisy, Leah, Lexi and Caitlyn. Autumn and Medina are sent home.

Will this drama finally be behind us next week? Probably not! BSC It airs again Mondays at 8pm ET/PT on ABC.
