Darius Rucker was arrested in Tennessee on three charges and posted $10,000 bail


Three-time Grammy Award winner Darius Rucker, best known as the lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, was arrested Thursday in Tennessee on misdemeanor drug charges.

His lawyer said the 57-year-old was “cooperating fully with the authorities.”

Rucker has branched out from the band, becoming a country music star and hosting the CMAs. He has also done some guest acting spots.

Reports indicate that Rucker was booked in Williamson County, his home state, in connection with three misdemeanor charges, two of which were drug-related.

Charges include simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance, and vehicle registration violation.

Rucker was enslaved and released around 11 a.m. today. Rucker’s bond was set at $10,500.

Rucker was involved in another drug-related controversy more than two years ago. His ex-girlfriend, Kate Quigley, was hospitalized in critical condition after a near-fatal overdose that claimed the lives of three other people. Rucker commented on the incident while on the red carpet of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Quigley was angry that Rucker commented without bothering to call her.
