Exclusive: Iconic Events has taken over the local rights to the jokea dark comedy starring EGOT Award winner Rita Moreno (West Side Story), conure calopsis (Excellence(And Ramona Young)I’ve never done that before), from XRM Media and Sneak Preview Entertainment.
Directed by Maureen Bharucha (Perfect playground: bumper in Berlin), the SXSW 2022 crowd-pleaser will hit nearly 200 screens on March 15. Myriad Pictures is selling international rights to EFM.
The film is written by Rebecca Flynn White (Great period adventure(And Zack White)Creepy show) follows Ben (Calopsis), a typical high school valedictorian. He is organised, meticulous, goal-oriented and extremely loyal to the school. His best friend, Tanner (Young), couldn’t be the other way around. She’s a jaded, messy, lazy girl who lives in the moment. They’re not popular, but they don’t seem to care much that they have each other.
Ben has a strict, mean, and cruel physics teacher, Mrs. Wheeler (Moreno). She has been teaching at the school for decades and has a reputation for being the toughest, coldest, and strictest member of the faculty. I failed Ben’s entire class unless the student who cheated came forward. But when no one does, Tanner and Ben hatch a plan to ruin her life and frame her for murder on social media.
The cast also includes Keith David (no), Kate Flannery (the desk), Meredith Salinger (Will & Grace), Jonathan Kimmel (Trophy wife), Nathan Janak (Drama club), Betsy Sodaro (ghosts), Talia Jackson (Family reunification), Rommel de Silva (Ghost writer(and Ahmed Baharousha)Golden arm). Produced by Sneak Preview Entertainment in association with Inphenate, the film is produced by Stephen J. Wolf. XRM Media is financing, with co-founder Michael Y. Chow and Glenn Rigberg of Inphenate serving as executive producers.
