‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ premiere: Larry David jokes about there being no ‘notes’ from HBO and only ‘suggestions’ during season 12

Larry David attended the premiere of the final season of the series Curb your enthusiasmwhere he revealed what he had planned next and gave insight into the creative freedom HBO gave him during the show’s 12-season run.

Before the first two episodes of Season 12 of the comedy series, David took to the stage to introduce the show, and received a standing ovation from the audience.

“If I were a different person, I might be affected by that,” David joked after the standing ovation.

“So, yeah, yeah, this is it. This is it. The final season. It’s very sad, very sad,” David said awkwardly as he played with the American Sign Language interpreter next to him.

Noting that a lot of people were wondering what he was going to do now that the show was over, the comedian joked, “Hey, don’t worry about me. I have a lot to do first. I love to travel. You all know that. I’m a world traveler. I love packing and unpacking,” everyone tripped over. I’ve ever had a medical emergency in a foreign country where they don’t speak English – that’s the greatest thing.

David said he was thinking about (traveling to) Antarctica, as he had been “hearing a lot of things about Antarctica – good things. Get this boat. I will go there. “They got penguins, and I love penguins.”

“Now that the show is over, I’ll have more time to get some things done. I might get that stool test I’ve been putting off,” he joked.

He also mentioned that he was thinking about taking some ayahuasca, adding: “I’m going to go into a dark room (and) blow my mind. I can’t wait to do it. It’s going to be amazing.”

David also joked about HBO changing its name to Max, saying, “I don’t understand it at all. Maybe I’ll change my mind to Irving. So, Irving David, that resonates beautifully.”

The actor also mentions executives like David Zaslav and Amy Gravitt, noting that the premium cable network did not give him any feedback throughout the show’s run, giving him creative stints on the show.

“There hasn’t been a note in 12 seasons, and it’s very cold,” he said. “Suggestions…they made suggestions and you know I love suggestions. ‘The note is bad, it’s harsh, I got a note – this is not good.’

David said he was “very lucky” for the show’s cast and proceeded to introduce them, including Vince Vaughn and Cheryl Hines. The actor also took the opportunity to acknowledge “two cast members who are no longer with us: Shelley Berman, who played my father, and the great Bob Einstein.”
