A public comment forum is being held on the North Carolina office’s recent rate increase request. Insurance companies proposed raising homeowners’ insurance premiums by 42.2%. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey says the proposed increase could take effect as early as August 1. The application will now undergo a mandatory public comment period before a final decision is made. There are two opportunities for you to participate. You can submit a comment at the Albemarle Building in Raleigh on North Salisbury Street from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and a virtual public comment forum will also be held. The link can be found on the Department of Insurance website: NCDOI.gov.
