Officials say a Georgia woman was paid nearly $45,000 for filing fake pet insurance claims


PAULING COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are searching for a Paulding County woman who they say filed nearly 50 false claims under her pet’s health insurance policy.

Amanda Lindley, 39, is wanted on 96 charges, Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King announced.

Investigators say she filed 48 claims under her pet’s health insurance between January 2019 and December 2022, telling them her dog had gone to several veterinarians in Atlanta.

The warrants charge Lindley with 48 counts of insurance fraud and forgery.

They later learned that she had changed the date and costs of procedures on her bills, including visits that never happened. In total, she received about $45,000 for these claims.

She is also accused of setting up a campaign on an online crowdfunding site to solicit donations from sympathetic people.

Warrants were issued against her on January 10. She has not yet been detained.
