NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070Ti SUPER is 8% faster on average than the RTX 4070Ti in 3DMark tests

NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti SUPER shows 8% higher performance on average in 3DMark tests

While the RTX 4070 SUPER showed a significant performance increase over the RTX 4070, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER appears to offer a smaller improvement. Reviewers are currently running tests on the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and some benchmark results have been shared with us. For now, we’ll focus on the 3DMark scores, with comprehensive gaming benchmarks expected to be released in full reviews in a couple of days.

In short, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is 15% slower compared to the RTX 4080, and 8% faster than the original RTX 4070 Ti. The gap between the first two models is expected to widen when NVIDIA delivers the SUPER update for the RTX 4080 by the end of January. As we reported, the original RTX 4080 is headed for discontinuation with the release of the new card. The non-SUPER version of the RTX 4070 Ti is headed for the same fate, with the new SUPER version offering gamers the same price but with a little more power.

Synthetic benchmarks may not provide the full picture, especially for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER. This specific model will have an increased memory capacity of 16GB, which is an upgrade of 4GB from the non-SUPER version. 3DMark benchmarks won’t take full advantage of the increased frame buffer, but they may actually show the benefits of increased bandwidth. Larger memory capacity may have an impact on high-resolution gaming at Ultra settings. Ultimately, the result will likely vary depending on the specific title, with GPU-bound games likely to show a double-digit performance increase, while others may show smaller gains.

The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is scheduled to launch on January 24, with initial reviews expected to be available a day earlier. Unlike the RTX 4080 SUPER and 4070 SUPER, the 4070 Ti will not feature a Founder’s Edition design. As a result, performance may vary depending on the specific model tested. However, our January 23 review coverage will focus on the so-called MSRP models, all of which are expected to come with similar clocks and TDP settings. Test results below are based on this model running the new GeForce 551.15 driver.
