Halo Infinite Season 5 will be its last as it pivots to smaller updates and 343i works on ‘new projects’

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has confirmed that there will not be any more seasons after Season 5.

In a community livestream broadcast overnight, 343i revealed that after the sci-fi series’ fifth season begins on January 30, the seasons will be paused and replaced with “Operation” events instead.

Operations will only last for four to six weeks at a time, and the battle passes that accompany them will only have 20 levels. It’s a big change from the typically long and lengthy seasons in free-to-play shooters, and could be a sign that 343i is now stepping back from the 2021 game.

And that’s not all either. While 343i has confirmed that it will “continue providing” Halo Infinite updates for the time being, “additional teams” have now turned to “the future” and are “working on entirely new projects.”

“We have a dedicated team working to support Halo Infinite and continue to deliver for the future, but we also have additional teams now rushing into the future and working on entirely new projects,” said Community Manager Brian Jarrard (thanks, PC Gamer). .

As for the final fifth season of Halo Infinite? Expect new Covenant items in the Forge, a new arena map, a new process, a free Mark IV Spartan core, and the ability to add shoulder pieces to any armor.

ICYMI, the second season of the big-budget series is set to begin filming soon, while the first season of the Halo TV show is now available to watch in the UK.
