What is septic shock?

Ashley opened up about her recent ordeal to her 2.8 million Instagram followers as she shared stunning photos from her hospital bed.

I wrote: ‘As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is gratitude.

“While I was on vacation in December and into the New Year, what started as tonsillitis escalated into serious septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs.

“I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we were initially told.”

The actress credited her boyfriend Paul Foreman, 29, for being there for her “unconditionally.”

She added: “She calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary emergency rooms, countless scans, tests and injections, excruciating pain, and a lot of confusion, all while we were alone on the other side.” . From a world apart from those we know.

Ashley has previously spoken about other health scares she has overcome, including overcoming cancer as a teenager.

She was just 15 years old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and she recovered after nearly a year in hospital receiving chemotherapy.

After being told what she could and couldn’t do during her treatment, she was inspired to change the way she approached health and wellness.

“Once the cancer left my body, I made it my mission to not let it affect my life,” the Broadway star told Shape magazine.

“I didn’t want it to define me.” People were very worried about me, and I became the person who said, “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. I’ll go for what I want and I’ll just do it.”
