East Ridge resident loses about $8,000 in cryptocurrency to phishing scam | local news


A new scam has been reported after an East Ridge man said about $8,000 in cryptocurrency was stolen from his account.

The man claimed he followed a link from Twitter to visit a familiar website. When he arrived at the link, it was a copy of the site he intended to visit.

The East Ridge Police Department said that between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM on January 15, the man noticed money missing from his account after accessing the phishing site.

There are currently no suspects.
