One Baldur’s Gate 3 player experienced a “wild” HP bug that kept them alive, even though their Tav had zero HP.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been plagued by its fair share of weird glitches like countless other games. Players argue that some gameplay bugs, such as the recurring death animation bug, actually elevate the experience.

At the same time, it’s not surprising that specific problems add a new touch of fun every now and then. A BG3 player who recently ran into one of these problems couldn’t help but laugh at the strange circumstances they found themselves in.

Baldur’s Gate 3 HP bug will not leave the player dead

BG3 user Rowanever shared details of his HP-related issues in a Reddit thread. According to the player, his Tav got “bashed” during a fight against the harpies on the beach and slowly started bleeding.

Shadowheart attempted to heal the hero with zero hit points and, much to the player’s surprise, awakened his character once again. “(Taff) comes back to keep fighting. With 0 hp. He ended the fight by killing the rest of the kidnappers himself.

With the battle over, the game updates the player’s status to “Dead”, although the character still walks around unharmed. In a later post, the user noted that enemies ignored them because their Tuff was considered dead.

Elsewhere in the thread, the original poster said that Baldur’s Gate 3’s HP bug caused this to happen as well, so “every jump is marked as resulting in death.”

Other fans seemed intrigued by the glitch, with one writing: “Shadowheart did either the best or worst possible bit of healing there. What an unbelievable bug.”

Someone said that they once encountered a similar problem where Shadowheart was “walking around dead” after a fatal explosion. A long rest fixed things in their favor.

Interestingly, the original poster said that long rest was beneficial for them as well. But at least they were able to enjoy the “ghost play” while it lasted.
