The postponement of the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards by four months due to the actors’ and writers’ strike last year led to an oddity in Hollywood scheduling: back-to-back awards shows.
The Critics’ Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler on Sunday in Los Angeles, could be considered just the opening ceremony for Monday’s Emmy Awards. But since the awards recognize movies and TV as well, movie actors doing their best for Oscar nominations are unlikely to miss the chance to meet live. (The next class of Oscar nominees will be announced on January 23.)
