Pennsylvanians are still shopping for health insurance for 2024 during the Affordable Care Act’s annual open enrollment period, and will now have more time to choose plans this year.

The registration deadline has been extended by one week and will now end on Jan. 19, state officials announced Tuesday.

The original deadline fell on January 15 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the holiday is observed when most local and state offices are closed.

“We’ve seen a record number of Pennsylvanians enroll through Pennie. Don’t miss out,” Devon Trulli, CEO of Pennie, said in a statement. “If you wait until you need medical care, it will be too late.”

The new Jan. 19 deadline is the last chance for people to change their insurance coverage through Pennie, the state’s Affordable Care Act marketplace. Many residents will automatically be re-enrolled in the plans if they take no further action.
