Oscar Mayer is looking for the next ‘hot dogger’ to drive the Weinermobile — for $35,600 a year

Oscar Mayer announced Monday that applications are being accepted for the next class of “hotdoggers,” a year-long opportunity to drive across the country in the iconic 27-foot Wienermobile as a spokesperson for the brand.

The meat and deli meat company, a subsidiary of food giant Kraft Heinz, says in its job listing that the lucky hot dogs will earn a wage of $35,600.

The average hotdogger travels 20,000 miles and visits at least 40 cities to host pop-up events, appear on local media and create content for TikTok and Instagram.

To be honest, it’s an opportunity that most people would enjoy. Those interested should jump-start the application process if they are unemployed and meet the criteria.

“It’s like they’re running a PR company on wheels,” Ed Rowland, a spokesman for Oscar Mayer who runs the Wienermobile, told CNBC. “They are major content contributors across all of our social media channels. It is one of the best performing content for all of Kraft Heinz.”

In recent years, hot dog lovers have had the opportunity to serve the first-ever frozen hot dog-flavored drink in New York City and hold wedding receptions at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas.

Oscar Mayer pays a base salary of $35,600 annually, with a weekly allowance of $150 for meals and personal travel, according to the job listing. The position includes health benefits, 18 days of paid vacation, and all paid hotel accommodations.

Applications are competitive, with the company receiving approximately 1,000 to 15,000 applications for the 12 open spots.

“The title of Hotdogger is a rare and coveted position unique to those seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Rowland said in a press release Monday. “Statistically speaking, more people have visited space than have driven a Wienermobile! We are proud to welcome the next chapter that will continue the tradition of sparking smiles and delivering fun cupcakes to fans across the United States.”

Applications are open until the end of January.
