The Cayman Insurance Directors Association appoints board members for 2024

The Cayman Islands Insurance Directors Association (IMAC), the body representing the international insurance industry in the Cayman Islands, confirmed at its annual general meeting in early December the appointments of new Board positions for 2024.

Kieran Mehigan will chair the Executive Committee, and James Trundle will serve as Vice-Chairman. Mike Scott will serve as treasurer, and Erin Brosnihan will serve as secretary.

IMAC has several active committees focusing on different key functions.

Alana Trundel will chair the Cayman Islands Prisoners’ Forum Committee. The Forum just celebrated its 30th anniversary in November 2023 with a record number of attendees.

The Marketing Committee, which focuses on expanding the association’s domestic and international reach, is chaired by Martin Cook.

The Education and Community Affairs Committee will be co-chaired by Heather Devoe and Johnny Stephen.

The IMAC Educational Endowment Foundation (ESF) will be chaired by Leslie Thompson, former president of IMAC. The ESF has raised more than $5 million, enabling IMAC to support 65 young Caymanians in pursuing higher education internationally, to date.

Paul Massey has been appointed Chair of the Legal and Regulatory Committee, joined by Clayton Price, and Jenny Pooley will serve as IMAC Office Supervisor.

Mehigan commented: “I look forward to all we have planned for 2024. IMAC and our members are committed to working with other stakeholders in the Cayman Islands financial services industry to continue to represent our growing industry locally and internationally. I would also like to thank Leslie Thompson, former Chair of the Independent Advisory Committee To the management, for their dedication to serving the mission of our association.”

IMAC also liaises with the government and regulatory body on behalf of the industry and encourages innovation and international competitiveness to maintain Cayman’s distinctive market position.

The Cayman Islands is the world’s second largest home of captives, and is the dominant jurisdiction for healthcare captives, group captives, catastrophe bonds, and international reinsurance.
