Live coverage of the latest ads was unveiled at CES in Las Vegas


The Engadget team is on the ground in Las Vegas covering CES 2024, ready to catch all your print tech news. Since you may not have time to read every story on our site, we’ll round up the most exciting stories into daily live blogs to keep you informed.

The show doesn’t officially start until Tuesday, but the first day begins this evening with the CES reveal, where a group of companies gather in a crowded room to show off a small sample of their new products. We’ll be bringing you all the news live from the sad ballroom at Mandalay Bay Casino starting at 8pm ET.

We’ll be live again tomorrow for a busy Monday schedule. First up tomorrow is AMD’s press conference at 10am ET, then we have competing press conferences at 11am – NVIDIA and LG. There are plenty of other shows in between, but the next big press show after that is Samsung’s show at 5pm ET. So what do we expect from all these conferences? Well, AI of course, but beyond the obvious, you can probably look forward to some new graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA, and a host of new home entertainment gadgets from the two Korean giants.

    During the First Look event, Samsung teased the world’s first transparent MicroLED display.

    Although there’s no word yet on how much this technology will cost or when this technology will find its way to retail devices, Samsung showed off not one but three different transparent LED displays with slightly different designs. Two of the demo units featured tinted glass making it easy to ignore any potential partition objects behind the panels, while another looked as clear as regular glass while also featuring a frameless design.

    Samsung’s CES 2024 TV launch is here. The company typically reserves more precise product details (including pricing) for later, but it provided Engadget with a quick summary of its new TV lineup ahead of its press conference on Monday. The new 8K TVs feature new AI-powered features, including upscaling technology (to help with the scarcity of native 8K content), and claim that the “glare-free” OLED model looks equally sharp in bright and dark rooms.

The company has upgraded it several times over the years, but at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled a new audio accessory to accompany the TV. . A TV that can also be used as a showcase for art and photos. The company calls it the “Music Frame” (HW-LS60D): a wireless speaker that once did double duty as home decor, just like its TV counterpart. However, this unit does not have a screen, but instead has printed images or artwork that you will need to swap out manually.     Mui is no stranger to CES, as the company’s first wooden smart home console was shown off in 2019, and the company has been working on a second-generation model for at least a year. But, finally, it looks like the new Mui Pad will be something you can order and hopefully get your hands on before the end of 2024.

    Like the original, the new Mui Board is a touch-sensitive wooden surface that lets you control smart devices throughout your home. When not in use, it looks like a small wooden ledge, but when you tap it, the screen lights up. It’s a bit like a higher-end, less annoying version of the Nest Hub.

    Some companies are taking AI-powered monitors, TVs, or laptops to CES. Others bring a toilet seat that you can talk to. Kohler, a 151-year-old bathroom appliance company, will introduce the PureWash E930 Bidet Seat in Las Vegas next week. This accessory fits most tall toilets, turning the dumb caddy into an Alexa or Google Assistant-powered smart toilet. Xreal’s lightweight augmented reality glasses have been a huge hit – especially among gamers – but as chief correspondent Richard Lai explains, they have even bigger ambitions. The company’s new Air 2 Ultra has 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) for spatial and hand tracking, along with a wide 52-degree field of view and 42 pixels per degree resolution within an 80-gram titanium package. . The company says these specs make the $699 Air 2 Ultra a compelling alternative to the $3,499 Vision Pro.

    Our first story from CES Unveiled is about the BeamO, which, from its name, should be a cool robotic companion, but is actually a new health tech gadget from Withings. According to senior correspondent Danielle Cooper, it’s a comprehensive diagnostic tool that follows in the footsteps of the company’s existing thermometer. The $250 device, called a “multoscope,” will tell you how warm (or not) you feel, measure blood oxygen, run a one-way electrocardiogram (ECG), and even function as a digital stethoscope. Place this on your chest and you can listen to the sounds your chest makes, or send the file to your doctor for further analysis.
