Cindy Morgan, the actress who played her breakout screen role with Chevy Chase and Bill Murray in Caddyshack, has died at the age of 69.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her death to TMZ on Saturday, noting that she died in the area.
Morgan is best known for her stunning appearance in Caddyshack, as bombshell Lacey Underall.
In 2012 she spoke about Caddyshack and her audition for the part: “Caddyshack was my first film and I will say the final product was very different, it was originally about cans.”
‘So at first, I had nothing to lose in the test. It was fun. All I did was focus on making the person sweat. Look them in the eye, do that thing that a lot of women know…’
She also played major roles in the science fiction classic Tron (1982) as Laura, a computer programmer in the “real” world, and Yuri, her alter-ego in the film’s computer-generated world.
Morgan also went on to appear in two different roles on the nighttime soap Falcon Crest for three seasons.
The actress has also appeared in CHiPs, The Larry Sanders Show, Amazing Stories, The Love Boat, The Fall Guy, Vegas, Matlock and more.
While Caddyshack was her breakout role, it wasn’t her first. She had a small role in the 1980s film American Gigolo starring Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton, according to IMDb
Cindy was born in Chicago and after 12 years of Catholic schools headed to Northern Illinois University where she worked as a DJ at the campus radio station.
After college she worked at a local television station in Rockford, Illinois where she was a weather girl and as a DJ at WDSM in Chicago.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1978 to try acting.
Morgan booked the role of Irish Spring Girl in commercials while taking acting lessons.
In later years, Morgan appeared in several short films and worked as a voiceover for video games.
Her last film role was in the movie Empty Sky in 2011, and her last television appearance was in an episode of the series Under Suspicion in 1994.
Aside from acting, Morgan was passionate about her charitable work with US Army veterans who participated in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I worked to help alleviate the financial difficulties these veterinarians may face.
She also worked to raise money for the Illinois Family Relief Fund, which helps families of National Guard members, reservists and active-duty personnel.
