Afrinvest dangles N2.5m to winner of Rangers NPFL insurance match


Afrininvest West Africa It promised a prize of 2.5 million naira to the winning team of the Nigerian Premier League match between Benindale Insurance Football Club and Rangers International of Enugu,

The scheduled match between the two teams will take place on Saturday, January 6, at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo State, in Round 17 of the NBL.

Speaking on the need to support teams, Afrinvest West Africa Group Managing Director, Ike Chioki, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting young people to achieve their life goals.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, founder of Afrinvest – the official sponsor of Rangers – is mobilizing support for Bendel Insurance Football Club in Benin.


Sports analysts praised Obaseki’s support for sports development, insisting that Saturday’s match highlighted his full commitment to sports development and youth empowerment.

Participation formula

According to Mr. Chiuki, the winning team will receive 2.5 million naira in cash from Afrinvest, while the losing team will receive 500,000 naira.

“In the event of a draw, both teams will each receive one million naira, payable into Optimus through the personal Afrinvest accounts of players and club officials of both teams.

Obaseki urged sports-loving Edo residents to come out en masse during the tournament to support the insurance.

Edo State Communications and Guidance Commissioner, Chris Nihikari, said that the state government will provide free buses, through Edo City Transport Services, at various assembly points to and from the match venue.

“This is to ensure that Edo people come out en masse to cheer the home team to victory,” he said.

“Our sports-loving Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has agreed to provide free bus rides, through ECTS, to mobilize Edo residents in their numbers to cheer on the state football team, Bendel Insurance, to victory during their NRL match against Rangers FC on Saturday, January 6 2024 at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

“Free buses will be available at various assembly points to ensure easy and accessible movement for Bendel Insurance fans and supporters, as well as other football fans to and from the match venue.”

According to him, the free bus service route includes Ogbowo Axis, Airport Road, Sukponpa Road, Ekpoba-Hill, Iyan-Aduawa Axis, King Square Axis, Ojeda-Seloko Road, New Benin Road, Sapele Road and Ekenwane Road.

Nihikari added: “While we are certain of victory after 90 minutes of football action, we encourage the people of Edo to come out en masse to cheer on our beloved team, Bendel Insurance, to victory.

“We want the stadium to be full, so we can give them the moral support and intimidation they need.”

On his part, Chief of Staff to Governor Obaseki, Osayegbofo Ewuha, encouraged the insurance players to do their best against the visiting Rangers and ensure victory.

“The governor is very supportive of you and has approved a package for you. I am coming to the stadium with the package.

“We are impressed with the progress you have made this season, and we are confident that you will be even better,” he said.

Iwha added: “We are rallying support for you because the governor has approved a free ride for fans to and from the stadium. We urge you to make the state proud with your victory over Rangers on Saturday.
