“Starsky & Hutch” star Paul Michael Glaser paid tribute to his old friend David Soul after his death this week.
“David was a brother, a friend, and a caring man,” Glaser said in a statement to People magazine. “We will never see him again.”
“I’m having a hard time understanding David’s death. It seems like only yesterday that we were exchanging endearing insults on the phone,” continued Glaser, who played Michael Starsky’s David on the hit series.
“It just takes time, I tell myself; As I say goodbye to this dear friend and important part of my life, I think I will let myself feel his loss, and our loss, only gradually.
Glaser (80 years old) said that his former co-star “loved and cherished” his wife, Helen Snell, who “stood by his side during these difficult years.”
He added: “He couldn’t tell me enough how much it meant to him.” “To all his sons and daughter China, my deepest condolences.”
He concluded by saying: “And to all of you, our supportive and caring audience who recognized a very special relationship and never stopped telling us. Thank you. We have all lost a dear friend who will live on in our memories.”
The buddy cop drama aired from 1975 to 1979 and follows two detectives in California. Spirit starred as Sergeant Kenneth Richard “Hutch” Hutchinson.

The actor passed away at the age of 80 on Thursday.
Snell announced the news in a statement, saying that her husband died “after a courageous fight for life in the company of a loving family.”
“He shared many extraordinary gifts with the world as an actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend,” she added. “His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by many whose lives he touched.”
Sol suffered from a range of health problems throughout his life, such as cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Sol is survived by Snell and his six children – five sons and a daughter.
